Who we are

ShotPorter is made and run by Alex Potemkin, sole proprietor ("we", "us"). We're the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What the app does with your data

Your photos and videos never leave your Mac. ShotPorter reads your memory card, copies your files, verifies them, and sorts them — all locally, on your machine. We never see them, and we couldn't if we wanted to.

The app talks to our licensing server for five things: starting a trial, activating a license, refreshing one so it keeps working, listing the Macs you've activated, and deactivating one of them. What each call sends depends on what it's doing — not every call sends everything:

• your email address — sent when starting a trial or activating a license
• your license key — sent when activating, and when listing or deactivating your devices
• a device identifier and your device's name
• the platform
• the ShotPorter app version

Refreshing a license doesn't ask for anything new — it gets back the signed license record our server issued earlier, which carries those same license and device details.

That's it. Nothing about your files, folders, filenames, or memory cards is ever transmitted, logged, or stored by us — not even metadata about them.

What we do with your email: it tracks your trial and delivers your license key. We'll only write to you about important ShotPorter updates or issues that need your attention. We never sell or share your address, and there is no marketing list.

Where license data is stored

License information is stored in our licensing database, hosted on Cloudflare's network. We keep it while your license is active, and for a reasonable period afterward, so we can help with support requests and catch fraudulent activity like leaked keys.

Payments

Purchases use Stripe Managed Payments. The Stripe entity named at checkout and on your receipt is the merchant of record for your order. Your card details go straight to Stripe — we never see them and never store them. Stripe has its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

What we do receive from Stripe is your email address and an order confirmation, so we can issue your license key. Not your card number, ever.

Website analytics

We use two tools to understand how this site is doing, and they work very differently.

Cloudflare Web Analytics — always on

This is a cookieless page counter. It tells us how many people visited and which pages are popular, without tracking you personally and without setting any cookie. It's on for every visitor, with no consent needed, because there's nothing personal about it.

Google Analytics — consent where required

Google Analytics 4 helps us understand how people find and use the site. For visitors in the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, it loads only after you click Allow on the analytics banner. Outside those regions it loads automatically unless you have opted out. If Cloudflare cannot determine your country, we show the consent banner.

We ask Cloudflare for a two-letter country code, which we use only to decide whether the consent banner is required. When Google Analytics is active, it records page and section views; interactions with FAQs and screenshots; clicks on trial-download and purchase buttons; the beginning of checkout; the page language; and, if we test different landing pages, which version was shown. It also provides the traffic source, approximate location, and general device and browser information. We use this to improve the site and understand where visitors decide to try or buy ShotPorter.

We do not enable Google Signals, advertising personalization, or user-provided data collection. We do not send Google the contents of feedback messages, email addresses, payment details, or any information about files handled by the ShotPorter app. Google processes the analytics data under its own privacy policy.

You can disable or re-enable Google Analytics at any time. Disabling it stops future collection and removes its cookies from this browser.

Change analytics choice

The feedback form

Whatever you type into our feedback form, plus your email address if you choose to give it, comes straight to us. We also store which kind of message you picked — bug report, feature request, or something else — which page you sent it from, the app version if the message included one, your browser's user-agent string, the time you sent it, and a one-way-hashed version of your IP address — kept only to stop flooding, and not something we can turn back into your actual address. We use it only to answer you and to make ShotPorter better. We don't use it for marketing, and we don't share it with anyone else.

Cookies

We use one small storage item on this site to remember your analytics choice, so we do not ask you repeatedly and can respect an opt-out. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies. Google Analytics sets its own analytics cookies when it is active: after consent in regions where consent is required, or automatically elsewhere unless you opt out.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email info@shotporter.com and we'll sort it out. We're a small operation — you'll get a reply from an actual human, not a ticket queue.

Changes to this policy

If we change how ShotPorter handles data, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll say so clearly on the site.
